Giveaway Scam

The classic “send 1, get 2 back” fake giveaway that uses celebrity impersonation and urgency to steal crypto.

Giveaway scams promise to double or multiply any crypto you send to a specific address, usually within a limited window. There is never a real giveaway. Every coin sent is gone.

How it works

Scammers hijack or impersonate accounts of well-known figures on social platforms and livestreams. They pin a message promising a doubled return for anyone who sends crypto to a listed address. Urgency, countdowns, and fake “transactions” in the comments create pressure.

Red flags

  • Anyone asking you to send crypto first to receive more back.
  • “Official” giveaways that live only in a video description or pinned comment.

How to protect yourself

If a giveaway requires you to send funds to participate, it is not a giveaway. Real promotions never work that way.
