AI Deepfake Scam
A scam that uses AI generated video or voice of a real celebrity, founder, or influencer to promote fake investments or giveaways.
Deepfake technology can now clone a familiar face and voice well enough to fool a quick glance. Scammers use it to make it look like a trusted public figure is personally endorsing a crypto opportunity. The endorsement is fake. The wallet address is real, and it belongs to them.
How it works
A convincing video circulates on social media, streaming platforms, or paid ads. The public figure appears to announce a limited time giveaway, an exclusive fund, or a “private” investment. Viewers are directed to a slick website or a specific wallet address. Anything sent is gone.
Red flags
- A sudden high pressure celebrity endorsement you have not seen anywhere else.
- Slightly off eye movement, blinking, or audio that does not quite match the lips.
- Links that do not match the person’s real verified accounts or website.
How to protect yourself
Go directly to that person’s verified social profile or official website before acting. Never trust investment advice that lives only inside a video. Assume any urgent “send crypto now” clip is fake until you can prove otherwise.
