Hot Wallet vs Cold Wallet
A hot wallet is connected to the internet for daily use. A cold wallet stays offline for long-term storage.
A hot wallet lives on your phone or computer and is always ready to send and receive. It is convenient, and slightly more exposed to online risks. A cold wallet is a device that stays offline, only signing transactions when you plug it in.
How to think about it
Treat a hot wallet like the cash in your purse: enough for daily use, not your life savings. Treat a cold wallet like a safe at home: for the amounts you would truly hate to lose.
Starting out
Most women new to crypto do not need a cold wallet on day one. What matters first is understanding what you own, how to use a hot wallet safely, and how to keep your seed phrase private.
