Clipboard Hijacker
Malware that silently swaps a crypto address in your clipboard with the attacker’s address the moment you paste.
A clipboard hijacker is malware that watches your clipboard for anything that looks like a crypto address. When it sees one, it silently replaces the copied value with an address the attacker controls.
How it works
You copy your own or a friend\u2019s wallet address. The malware swaps it. You paste, glance at the first few characters, hit send. The funds land in the attacker\u2019s wallet.
Red flags
- The address you paste is different from the one you copied.
- Recently installed apps or browser extensions you do not fully recognize.
How to protect yourself
Always verify the full address, character by character, before confirming a send. Keep your device clean of software you did not deliberately install.
